Sapele—The Omateye family of Bateren in Warri North Local Governmenr Area of Delta State,  has faulted a recent media report credited to some individuals who claimed to be acting on behalf of the family, with the name of Omateye Organisation Bateren, to the effect that the family held a meeting recently during which it was resolved that the President or the Olori-ebi (head) of the Omateye family are the only people with the right to nominate persons into the board of Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC, to be shortly constituted, upon the lapse of the tenure of the former IRDC board.

The family under the aegis of Omateye Family Elites, OFE, said that the report by one Moses Fregene, Peter Odin and Nelson Gbenebitshe, was unknown to the family, done in bad faith and without the approval of the general assembly of the family.

National Coordinator of OFE, Prince Ishola Etchie, who spoke in Sapele yesterday, said, “The general assembly of the Omateye family never mandated anybody to cause such publication.”
