We’re not against Catholic Bishop —Bomadi youths

By Innocent Onoja

BOMADI—Amatebe Youth Forum, Bomadi town, in Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, has reiterated its stand to resist any attempt by any individual to convert the only landing jetty and its waiting hall in Amatebe quarters of the community, to any purpose, other than its original use by the people of the community.

The position of the youths is sequel to a fracas between some youths in Amatebe quarters of the community and the Bishop of Bomadi Vicariate of the Catholic Church, Most Rev. Hyacinth Egbebo, over the latter’s plan to convert the waiting hall of the jetty, which is located at the waterfront of the church’s Cathedral, to a cafeteria, which the bishop also alleged was a haven for gambling and smoking.

Reacting to Bishop Egbebo’s account of the occurrence in the media, President, Amatebe Youth Forum, Mr Senator Ebikeme, said that the youths were not against Bishop Egbebo and his development efforts for the community, but were merely fighting for their rights.
