ONITSHA—The Campaign for Democracy, CD, has given the National Assembly a pat  on the back for throwing out the Grazing Reserve Commission Bill, which it said was capable of causing communal war.

Describing it as an ill-wind that blows no good to anybody, CD said if the Bill, which is meant to provide a very large expanse of land for herdsmen in different parts of the country, had scaled through the National Assembly, a very serious ethnic vendetta between the land owners and the herdsmen would have been ignited and it would have resulted in much loss.

CD’s National Publicity Secretary, Uzor Uzor, told newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra State yesterday, that herdsmen should adopt international best practices on animal husbandry, which requires that animals be confined to a particular area and fed with foods sourced from various places.
