The unending feud in the Nigeria football family, orchestrated by Jos-based owner of Giwa FC, Chris Giwa, has been described as unfortunate and a distraction from serious football matters facing the nation.
Former Super Eagles coach and a member of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Christian Chukwu said the revived Chris Giwa versus NFF case was no longer an issue because the case had since been closed by the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
“As far as I am concerned, Giwa has no case. FIFA Statutes are clear on how to handle football disputes. For him to have gone to the civil court with a case that has since been decided by CAS is unfortunate.
“Furthermore, I think it is a distraction because we have very serious issues confronting this country. They should just let this administration run its course, after all, how many years are left before the next elections?’’ Chukwu said.
He however, expressed confidence that the case would not pose any serious problems because the NFF had filed an appeal for a stay of execution of the Jos High Court judgement. “As far as I know, the NFF application was granted immediately and that means the status quo remains. The job goes on,” he said.
