CALABAR—Mrs Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has called on stakeholders to step up efforts to stop the high rate of infant and mortality child birth in Nigeria.
Making the call, yesterday, in Ikom, Cross River State, at the flag-off of Project Future Assured, she said that Nigeria was one of the countries with the highest rate of infant and mortality child birth in Africa, adding that there was the need for all stakeholders to join hands in curtailing the scourge.
She said: “There is need for all stakeholders, including donor agencies, NGOs and the private sector to work together to reduce this scourge.”
Speaking also, Mrs Ayade, described the high rate of infant mortality and child birth in the state as worrisome, attributing the trend to some religious and traditional beliefs.
