Rivers Rerun: No electoral material missing – PDP, APC Agents

By Davies Iheamnachor

As the electoral materials for the National and State Assembly rerun elections in Rivers State begin to move to their different Local Government Areas, the State Party Agents for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, have confirmed that no electoral material was missing.

There were rumours earlier this morning that result sheets meant for some LGAs were missing. This rumor which suggested that the material which included original result sheets caused uneasy calm at the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

But as at the time of this report the agents representing the political parties for the rerun elections told Vanguard that all the materials, sensitive and non-sensitive were intact, stressing that all were set for the election, Saturday.

Sir. Elenchukwu Obowu the State PDP representative for the election said, “Our business here is to ensure that all the material, both sensitive and non-sensitive, get to their various LGAs.”

“We have not had any negative news from any LGA. We are satisfied so far so good until if there are one or two complains which naturally can occur.

When asked if the rumour was true that some sensitive materials were missing, Obowu said, “Up to this morning about nine to eleven LGAs were involved and we have been able to put our heads together to ensure that we create alternative which is the replacement.”

“Some of them were also found in other LGAs and have been returned. The REC and his officers cooperated and they have asked all the LGAs to go with their materials. Now every LGA has received their material.

“All is now set for the election and PDP will be victorious because South-South is for PDP. We don’t want anybody to be violent so that their votes will count.”

Similarly, the APC state agent, Mr. Emmanuel Deeyah who spoke to Vanguard said, “We have finished everything about distribution of material. Some have arrived and others are still on the way to their various LGAs.”

“There were issues, yesterday, on incomplete result sheets but we have sorted all of them. So the election is set.

“In Emohua, result sheets for House of Representatives for six wards were not found but we have sort it out at last. There has been replacement sheets signed by the REC. So everything is done,” he concluded.
