Several months ago, the nation was engrossed in a lot of political activities where political gladiators were busy selling their promises to the electorates. While, few really intended to keep their words of assurances, many candidates mount the podium at various rallies to juice the minds of the voters in a ‘ziggy’ manner in order to solicit for as many thumbs as possible at the polls.

Calculated politicians who understood the political terrain were careful as they engaged themselves in their vows to the people. They meticulously planned and considered the foreseeable challenges in the future. Such is APC’s Hon Olusumbo Olugbemi of Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Olasunbo Olugbemi is a seasoned professional with vast experience in financial management. He started his tertiary education at Yaba College of Technology and earned an OND certificate in Accounting. From there, he left for the United States of America where he studied Business Administration at the Maryland University College.

Mr. Olugbemi has held various positions in Union Bank of Nigeria where he worked for twelve years. To further his knowledge of the corporate world, he left for the United States of America and started working with Afstar Mortgage LLC as a Loan Consultant.

He also acted as an Independent Marketing Representative for 5Linx Communications, an international telecommunications company in Rochester New York for 3 years, and rose to the position of National Director before returning to Nigeria in 2010. Also served as a Marketing Director in 5Linx Communications Limited and a Non-Executive Director at Atwool School, Lekki, Lagos.

Since his return to Nigeria, he has been fully involved in politics and philanthropy committing his resources to the grassroots and empowering the needy by giving out scholarships while also assisting with paying of school and examination fees (e.g. WAEC, JAMB). As part of his quota to the development of quality education, he hires supplement teachers to assist the existing teachers in one of the primary schools in Oluyole Local Government.

His foray into politics was a clear departure from other politicians. While, others engaged in subtle ways to interact with the electorates, Hon. Olugbemi was pressurized by the good people of his community to join the race because the traits of good leadership that are embedded in him.

After gaining the confidence of the voters, ranging from market men and women, artisans, community leaders, religious leaders, youth bodies and other organizations within his constituency. Olugbemi decided to pitch his tent with the All Progressive Congress in Oyo State led by the amiable, hard working and indefatigable Governor, Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, who has transformed the length and breadth of the Pace Setter State from an invisible development to a prosperous one in which every good citizens are proud to identify with.

After his victory, he pledged to his people for the fulfilment of his promises rather than ‘DOROBUCHI’ around without the foresight of ‘GODWIN’. He pledged “to be faithful, loyal and honest, also serve you with all my strength so help me God”. He added that, “I will continue to stand firm in my beliefs and convictions to uphold our democratic values. If I can ever be of assistance, please allow me the opportunity to do so.”

Immediately after the inauguration of the Eight Assembly, he engaged his people to review his promises to meet the reality of expectations. After a successful engagement, he rolled out his inaugural program that is centered around touching the active propellers of the society, the independent class and the future leaders of our great nation and that is Olugbemi School Bus Run (OSBR). While, it is difficult to access the road network of his constituency due to the demographic nature, the lawmaker purchased four luxury buses and planned it along dedicated routes for it to be accessed by all to, the four routes are Orita to Abbey Technical to Liberty Academy, Odo-Ona Kekere to Idi- Ayanre, Prospect Abanla to Alaoo to Olomi-Ayegun and Muslim Grammar School axis.

To complement his love for education as the lasting legacy a parent can reward his child for success, the progressive lawmaker, following the footprints of the inspirational Governor of Oyo State , Isiaka Ajimobi decided to renovate a block of six classrooms in the following schools for the betterment of the children in having access to quality education namely Abbey Technical College,Molete High School,IDC Primary School,Orita, Ikereku and St Andrew,Ara, Oje, St Micheals Primary School opposite Cocoa Research Institute and Olete High School.

Also sharing in the belief that health is wealth, the people’s honorable also repaired the ambulance belonging to Oluyole Local Government for proper mobility during the need for emergency.

In the mind of a progressive, fear doesn’t exist. Hon. Olugbemi is a man blessed with the potential to transform, reform, build and change in all facets the people and structures of Oluyole Federal Constituency.
