Mkpat Abasi, an organization of indigenes of Ikot Abasi and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State resident in the United States of America, is set to launch a ground breaking medical mission project in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State.
The group, a non-profit organisation in Jacksonville, USA, said in a statement that it had decided to donate major medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and clinics in Ikot Abasi and Mkpatenin LGAs of the state through its partnership with another US-based non-profit organisation.
The statement by Dr. Joseph Akpan, said that the project would be launched at the Ikot Abasi General Hospital in Akwa Ibom State, March 14-20.
Akpan, who said that the project is planned through Pro-Health International – a non-profit organization based in Nigeria, and registered in the U.S.A., is expected to feature various medical experts across the country who would perform medical procedures and treatments of all types of illnesses as well as educate the people to save lives.
He said that on September 12, 2009, the group, working with its US-based partner, was able to acquire medical supplies and equipment, a 40-foot cargo container, consisting of 833 boxes/pieces (9,500 kegs) of medical supplies/equipment, which was dispatched to be distributed to hospitals and clinics in the councils.
