Ado-Ekiti—The Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State and the Minister for Solid Mineral, Dr Kayode Fayemi yesterday replied Ekiti State House of Assembly over allegedly missing N852.9 million Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC fund, saying his handover notes to Governor Ayodele Fayose, a copy of which was sent to the Assembly contained all they needed to know about his stewardship.

Fayemi, in a letter dated March 21 and signed by his Personal Assistant, Tolu Ibilola, said his government stewardship during his tenure as the executive Governor was contained in his hand-over notes.
But the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Kola Oluwawole, insisted that Fayemi may still be summoned to clarify issues on the allegedly misappropriated counterpart fund of the State Universal Basic Education Board.
“That is because the people of Ekiti State will like to know how he spent the money. Right now, Ekiti schools and our pupils are suffering because he failed to pay the SUBEB counterpart fund. That is why the state has not been able to access the funds like other states right now.
Oluwawole, in a statement issued by his media aide Stephen Gbadamosi, stated that the replied letter from Fayemi would be forwarded to the joint Committees of Public Account and Finance and Appropriation for further legislative actions.
According to Oluwawole; “Former Governor Fayemi has sent us a letter stating that he will not be able to come owning to some national assignment, adding that his stewardship was fully contained in his handing-over note.”
He added that Fayemi, had also said he would be willing to offer necessary explanation if need be.
