KANO – The Kano House of Assembly, Thursday, impeached it’s Chief Whip, Zubairu Mahmud over his loyalty to the former Governor of the state, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Similarly, thirty four (34) out of the 39 members of the Kano state House of Assembly unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as leader of All Progressive Congress in Kano.
The Assembly however replaced Zubairu Mahmud from Madobi constituency with Labaran Madari, Warawa constituency.
Earlier, Ibrahim Ahmed Gama, Nassarawa constituency presented a motion for the impeachment of the Chief and was seconded by majority of the lawmakers.
The 34 lawmakers under the leadership of the speaker, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum reaffirmed their support to the administration of President Muhammad Buhari and kano state Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
However, seven other members of the Assembly believed to be loyal to Senator Kwankwaso were absent from the hollow Thursday.
The 34 lawmakers had on Tuesday begged Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to discard the red cap that symbolises Kwankwaso’s reign and discouraged promoting it.
The lawmakers had on Tuesday visited government house and declared their support to Governor Ganduje and called for the state governor to drop the red cap.
