Osogbo—Violence clash broke out yesterday in the ancient city of Ile-Ife following the appointment of a new Obalufe of the town, Comrade Idowu Olaniyi Adediwura by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
It was gathered that the clash took place in the palace of Ooni of Ife when two ruling families, Oga and Jaojo ruling families which both lay claim to the throne clashed over who should produce the Obalufe.
The position of Obalufe, which is the second in command to the Ooni of Ife became vacant when late Oba Folorunso Omisakin died on October 15 2015.
Vanguard gathered that one of the ruling houses in a publication accused Lowa, Obaloran, Obajio and Jaaran of allegedly accepting ‘bribe’ to favour Adediwura.
Four royal houses are entitled to occupy the position of Obalufe. They are Ajagbusi, Ado Gbodo, Aga and Jaojo.
The last Obalufe it was gathered, hailed from the Ado Gbodo ruling house.
On his part, President of Obalufe Progressive Youth Club, Prince Arogundade Taiwo, said interviews were conducted for all the aspirants for the position before an outstanding candidate emerged among them.
