Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State
By Elizabeth Nwandu
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Mr. Ochuko Odugba has urged Deltans to see the victory of the state governor, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa at the Supreme Court as a call for commitment towards the development of the state.
Odugba, who commended the governor for refusing to be distracted during the period of litigation, urged Deltans to shun future acts capable of causing disharmony in the state. His words: ‘’What we saw at the Supreme Court was an overwhelming triumph of truth over falsehood. It was an attestation to the fact that Deltans actually voted for the PDP.
”While we revel in the euphoria of the court judgment, it is important we don’t lose sight of the underlying import of the victory. Truly, there are subtexts that cannot be ignored to avoid a repetition in future.”
‘’It is our duty to ensure that the opportunity presented by this victory is utilized. Therefore, I urge everyone to close ranks and support current efforts at making the state one of the prosperous in Nigeria. I have no doubt that we have the traction for this, but commitment remains the key to achieving that. This is the time to say never again shall the state be dragged into issues capable of diminishing the will of its people.’’
