ABUJA — The Nigerian Army said, Tuesday night, that troops of 7 Division of Nigerian Army and Cameroonian forces killed 20 Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed four AK-47 rifles.
This came as the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, commended the troops for their impressive performance thus far.
The soldiers also captured a gun truck mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun (AA Gun) and two AK-47 rifles, as well as a 60mm mortar and a dane gun.
The troops also rescued no fewer than 150 persons, mainly children, at Kodo, while a house with Boko Haram terrorists’ flag at Fatake caught fire with several ammunition explosions which killed three insurgents.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, who disclosed these in a statement, said: “The joint operation which was carried out with Cameroonian forces was quite successful as a number of the terrorists were killed, some of their weapons and equipment either destroyed or captured.
“Unfortunately, three soldiers sustained injuries and a vehicle damaged as a result of an Improvised Explosive Device, IED.”
