ABA—Suspected hoodlums have set ablaze the country home of a chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Abia State, Mr. Chigozie Ubani, at Obete Umuoha Village, Obingwa council area.
The hoodlums, who were said to have struck at 5.30a.m., Sunday, threw inflammable substances through the back door which consumed two rooms and a part of the roof of the building.
The children’s bedroom, visitors’ and rest rooms, two television sets, three mattresses, clothes and furniture were affected.
Ubani, who is a younger brother to the late human rights activist, Chima Ubani, described the incident as an assassination attempt on his life, stressing that he escaped death only through the grace of God as the inferno started in his bedroom.
Ubani disclosed that the hoodlums left a note at the back of the building and insisted that he will not reveal the contents in order not to jeopardise police investigations.
When contacted, Abia Police spokesman, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke, said the incident was yet to be reported.
