Labour issues 7-day strike notice to NIMET

ABUJA—ORGANISED labour  is threatening a show down over alleged  non-implementation of agreement reached with the management of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NIMET and has issued a 7-day strike notice to the agency.

Operating on the platform of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, AUPCTRE, labour said the ultimatum was contained in a letter sent to  the Director General of the agency in Abuja, last Friday.

President of the union, Solomon Adelegan, said the ultimatum was sequel to  the inability of the N IMET’s management to respect and implement the agreement reached with the union at a meeting in December last year.

According to him, some of the critical iss ues raised, discussed and agreement reached at the meeting include,” Commencement of full implementation of the recently approved Condition of Service/ Addendum for NIMET workers: Effective date of 2013 Promotion: Mandatory Training for would be Retirees: Staff Quarters occupied by officers who have retired from NIMET and Payment of 2015 Ex-Gratia.”
