Group hails judiciary on Taraba

BY JOHN MKOM, JALINGO.
A group known as the Taraba Volunteer Group led by Barr. Nierus Johnson has applauded the recent judgment delivered by an appeal court siting in Abuja in favour of Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state, the group said the judgment has calmed the political uprising in the state.

The group stated this at Sanaf Suit base in Jalingo Taraba state capital in the early hours of Wednesday.

It will be recalled that the lower Tribunal while delivering its judgment on the state governorship election had sacked Governor Darius Ishaku on the sole ground that he did not emerged from a valid primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

The group which call for peace and unity among the people of the state despite the political deferences has also lauded the way and manner which the people of the state accepted the recent judgment without any violent among the two major political parties ( PDP and APC) .

“The lower Tribunal judgment which sacked Governor Darius has coursed the lost of lives and properties in Taraba state, the judgment was seen as an attempt to foist the government of the minority on the majority which is against the basic tenets of democracy”

“The appeal court in its judgment had set aside the tribunal judgment and restored Governor Darius Ishaku’s mandate thus dismissing the APC’s petition”

The group called on both the PDP and APC members in the state to join hands with the administration of Ishaku to move the state forward.

“The issue of going to Supreme Court should not be the most important thing for now, the case against Ishaku is the same with the one in Zamfara state, last week, the Supreme Court of Nigeria in a panel of seven justices dismissed the case of Alhaji Shikafi of PDP who was challenging the due nomination and sponsorship of Governor Yari of APC”

“The Supreme Court described Alhaji Shinkafi of PDP as a mere busy body person who larks the legal capacity to challenge the primaries of Governor Yari by his party, the Supreme Court said primaries are demotic or internal affairs of the party and no stranger or non party member can intrude in them”

The group further challenge the governor to extend hands of fellowship to people of the state who are willing to contribute for the growth of Taraba to build a better state for the up coming generation.
