THE Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, has vowed to give the varsity’s newly-established Faculty of Agriculture the deserved attention to make its students globally competitive.
Professor Ajibefun gave this assurance while turning the sod of the Faculty of Agriculture’s Pen House.
The Vice Chancellor said, “This event is very symbolic and significant to the University. Since petroleum is no longer fetching sufficient money for the country, it behoves on us as a varsity to source alternative means of generating finances, one of which is agriculture.
“We are going to give the best attention to the Faculty of Agriculture to make our students globally competitive.”
Ajibefun added that the varsity has put plans in place to build a Faculty of Agriculture Complex and that work will begin on the site in within the next three months.
He said, “We are going to start the Building of Faculty of Agriculture Complex very soon. I have visited the site and I can assure you that work will begin on the site within the next three months.
“Although finance is a serious challenge, we are going to source for money to fund the project. The Faculty of Agriculture is the baby of this varsity and we are going to nurture it to greatness.”
The VC, who expressed confidence in the capability of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Emmanuel Gbadamosi, and members of the Faculty to build a world-class Faculty of Agriculture, thanked the Dean and members of staff of the Faculty for putting in the best efforts towards building the Faculty.
