Urhobo Social Club, Lagos, will on January 16, 2016, hold a grand reception in honour of Chairman of Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council and the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Ovie Richard Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro I. The reception for the 99 year-old monarch, who is also a Royal Canon of the Anglican Communion, Ughelli Diocese, takes place at the Palace Ground, Ogoni-Olomu, Delta State.
In a statement, Chairman, Reception Planning Committee, Olorogun Edoreh Agbah, said the reception, which will be under the chairmanship of Olorogun Moses Taiga,was in recognition of the immense contribution of the Ohworode to the development and peace in Olomu Kingdom, Urhoboland and Delta State in general, in his 27 years on the throne.
According to Agbah, “God has blessed the Ohworode with the rare combination of longevity and health of body and mind. At 99, he still reads without his glasses. He can drive himself around and travel round the world unaccompanied. The Urhobo Social Club, being a proactive body, believes that he should be celebrated now that he is still with us.”
The event, which will attract other traditional rulers, very important personalities of Urhoboland, Delta State and beyond, will also witness a lecture by Professor Sam Ibodje of the University of Port Harcourt, performance by the famous Ema Dancers of Ughelli among other attractions.
