The National chairman, Chief Peter Ameh in his welcome address and acceptance speech, thanked the congressmen for the confidence reposed on him, assuring that his return will be a new era in the annals of the party.
“Duty beckoned on me to assume the National Chairman in December 2013 following the resignation of the immediate past chairman. I had served the party diligently and conscientiously in many capacities prior to this call to higher service which came by sheer providence and not as a result of any scheme or plot on my part.
“I must use this occasion to express profound gratitude to my colleague in this NWC and NEC for reposing confidence in me and endorsing me to take up the mantle as chairman and keep the flag flying. I want to thank you all for your continued faith in this party. We are encouraged and motivated by your zeal and enthusiasm and we promise not to let you down.
“PPA has remained a leading political party in Nigeria despite the challenges we have been through. That we are still standing tall is because of the good work you have being doing in your various states and zones. We had to hit ground running on assumption of office as the office as the 2015 election was very close.
“We thank you for cooperating with us to be able to nominate candidates for almost all positions in the election. Many of you had to use personal resources to put in candidates. Many leaders virtually relocated to the national office to work.
“We succeeded in winning and satisfying the condition for a party to win a presidential and governorship election or a seat in the National or State Assembly to be assured of the status of a new registered political party,” he said.
