The 2015 edition of the Inspector General of Police National open Taekwondo Championship would hold from December 2-5, 2015, at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
Chairperson of the Nigeria Police Taekwondo, Superintendent of Police- Stella Ebikefe who disclosed this in Lagos at the weekend said the championship would be unique as over 200 Taekwondo athletes drawn from across the country are expected to feature in the exercise based on the entries received from the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation that conducted the registration exercise.
Superintendent of Police Ebikefe, who dismissed any logistic worries including medicals, said adequate arrangements for the successful staging of the competition have been concluded even as the carefully selected members of the local organizing committee are good to go.
But stressed that participating teams will take care of their transportation to and from Lagos, accommodation and feeding during the competition.
In terms of security, SP Ebikefe assured of a hitch free championship.
She said adequate security have been made as officers and men of the Nigerian Police force are combat ready as they have been put on full alert to ensure that participants at the IGP Taekwondo Championship will sleep with their two eyes fully closed throughout the 4-day duration of the tournament.
The Police chairperson pleaded with members of the public to besiege the National Stadium, Lagos from 2-5th December to be part of the exciting moments of the IGP Taekwondo.
Meanwhile, President of the Nigerian Taekwondo Federation, Grand Master George Ashiru has commended the Inspector General of Police for the championship while commending the Nigerian Police Taekwondo chairperson, SP Stella Ebikefe for her foresight in organizing the championship.
