Police kill robbery suspect in Delta, arrest 2

OGHARA—THE Delta State Police command says its patrol team killed a robbery suspect in Ughelli and recovered a Volkswagen car snatched from its owner at gunpoint by two armed men while driving out of her compound at Ekeredjebor, Ughelli.

In a statement released yesterday by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, the state command said it also arrested another suspect who was attempting to deprive a bank customer of his money at EcoBank, Warri.

DSP Celestina Kalu disclosed that the suspect was gunned down along Robert Alloy Street off Uloho Avenue during a gun duel with the patrol team while two of his gang members were also arrested.

While giving the names of the arrested suspects as   Isaac Aghofine, 22 and Innocent Eyeba, 19, the Police image maker disclosed that following information that the gang was operating in the area, the Divisional Police Officer; DPO for ‘A’ Division immediately detailed the patrol team to the scene where they engaged the bandits in a shootout.

Items recovered from the suspects, according to Kalu, include two double barrel cut-to-size guns, one locally made pistol, and some mobile phones, adding that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
