NBA urges Anambra State govt, JUSUN to call off strike

The committee of branch Chairmen and Secretaries  of  the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA,  Anambra State, yesterday in Obeledu,  Anaocha Local Government Area  of the state  has urged the state government and the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN,   to call off the 10 months strike action, which has paralysed  court activities  in the state.

In a  resolution passed at the  meeting convened by the Vice-Chairman of Pan African Lawyers Union, PALU, Mr  Emeka Obegolu at which all the seven branches of NBA in Anambra State and stakeholders  were  represented, the meeting discussed the state of the legal profession in  the state with particular reference to the ongoing strike by JUSUN that  has paralysed court activities in the state for almost one year.

The meeting commended the efforts of parties in  all the negotiated  agreements reached so far to resolve the matter, noting that the outstanding  issues  were minimal, hence urged all parties to resolve them.

The NBA also  regretted the sufferings  of all awaiting trial inmates  and litigants in the Anambra State and therefore, called on the state government and JUSUN to call off the strike and open the courts  in the interest of the residents of Anambra.

The association also resolved to ensure that each party obeys and fulfils its obligations under the agreement in the overall interest of the state.
