UYO—Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, yesterday, called on Akwa Ibom people in the Diaspora to use their international exposure and connections to attract investments and contribute to the industrialisation drive of his administration.
Governor Emmanuel made the call while exchanging views with members of Ibibio Peoples Union, United States Chapter, who called on him at Government House, Uyo.
He said their wealth of experience, particularly in technology, would be of immense importance to the industrialisation, employment generation and wealth creation agenda which his administration was vigorously pursuing to ensure that every Akwa Ibom youth earned a living rather than beg for it.
The governor also charged them to use the period of their visit to enlighten the youths on the need to develop their potentials and create a means of livelihood for themselves rather than wait for the proverbial golden fleece abroad.
He announced plans to upgrade technical schools with facilities to equip the students with requisite technological skills to drive the industries.
