UMUAHIA—AS part of efforts to get the Nigeria’s economy on the right track again, the Federal Government has promised to partner state governments in the area of industrialization.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, when he visited Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, at Government House, Umuahia, said that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to providing enabling environment for Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, to thrive.
Enelamah, was at the Government House, Umuahia to meet Governor Ikpeazu and know his development road map, especially in the area of SMEs, and explore areas of possible collaboration between the state and Federal Government.
The minister commended Abia State Government for encouraging local leather and garment production in Aba, through Public Private Partnership, PPP, noting that the Federal Government wants to lift the country out of its present economic challenges by also encouraging the adoption of PPP.
“We clearly want to partner states in industry, the Federal Government wants to diversify the economy. We encourage your initiative on made in Aba/Nigeria goods, especially the leather and garment clusters,” Enelamah said.
In his remarks, Ikpeazu, appealed to the minister to facilitate the patronage of state’s policy on local production of foot wears for military and paramilitary organisations in the country.
