Enyimba FC have drawn Uganda’s Vipers SC in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League.

The Nigerian Professional Football League Champions will travel to Bukiwe in the weekend of February 12-14 2016  to tackle Vipers, while they will receive the Ugandans on the weekend of  February 25-27 in Aba.

The winner of this tie will progress to the next qualifying round to face either Lioli FC of Lesotho or Burundian champions Vital’O in March.

Enyimba captain Chinedu Udoji stated that the club can go far in the tournament.

“Winning the CAF Champions League is going to be a big task no doubt, but it is achievable. We have a coach that is widely experienced. He has won the Champions League with this club in the past which is good for us.

“We also have the players who can do it. I believe that with hardwork and belief, we can rule the continent again.

“We not only want to be the best club in Nigeria, we want to be the best club in Africa. We learnt lessons from our early exit when we campaigned earlier this season so we are going to correct them and do better next year.”

Warri Wolves also start their maiden appearance in the Champions League from the preliminary round and will face SC da Praia Cruz of Sao Tome and Principe.

In the Caf Confederation Cup, Nasarawa United have Senegalese club Generation Foot to battle against in the preliminary round.

Nigeria’s Federation Cup holders, Akwa United, are facing Congolese opposition in Vita Club Mokanda. It is the first time that the Uyo club will play in any Caf club competition.
