MAKURDI—Governor Samuel Ortom has assured that workers in the state would receive their salaries before the Christmas festivities.
The Governor who spoke, weekend, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, North Bank, Makurdi, said he had already directed that the payments of workers should commence immediately.
He said his administration was committed to the welfare of its workforce despite the persisting economic challenges and sued for understanding.
Ortom said, “as a government, we have enthroned transparency, accountability and due process in the handling of government business and we are committed to ensuring that the rules are obeyed.
“We are only asking for understanding on the part of all stakeholders as we strive to position our state on the pedestal of faster socio-economic development.”
The Governor who recounted some of the achievements of his administration in the last six months noted that virtually all the sectors of the state had been touched by his government.
Vanguard recalls that the state government had few weeks back announced its decision to alternate the payment of workers due to dwindling resources; workers are still being owed backlog of salaries.
