Ibadan—GOVERNOR Abiola  Ajimobi of Oyo State and the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress have agreed that salaries of workers in the state will be settled using “staggered“ mode of payment.

This  implies that  consideration will be given to junior staff from whatever monthly revenue the state gets while the senior staff will be taken care of thereafter.

The option  of staggered payment of salary was taken as against downsizing of workers and cut in salaries.

This was disclosed yesterday by the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Waheed Olojede, while delivering a lecture in Ibadan.

Olojede, who was represented by the Secretary General of the union, Mr. Kofo Ogundeji said a  Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, had been signed by both parties.

He said out of the three options, all parties agreed to the first option adding that they had to face reality of the current financial predicament of the state.

The MoU was signed by representatives of the state government and that of the workers including members of the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC.
