Reps want national award for Eaglets

The House of Representatives yesterday urged the Federal Government to bestow national award on the victorious Golden Eaglets for winning the U-17 world champions for the fifth time.

Already, the Green chamber presided by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara has promised to host the team and its technical crew on the floor of the House on a date not mentioned for now.

The call to honour the Eaglets was one of the resolutions on the motion sponsored by Rep Henry Nwawuba representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State.

The House also congratulated the lads, the coach, Emmanuel Amuneke and the entire technical crew of the team for making the country proud by winning the trophy in Chile.

He said that the feat came barely six months when the Golden Eaglets came a distant fourth in the African championship and even the time the nation’s senior team, the Super Eagles went down in the last recent FIFA ranking.
