Police arrest man with stolen car

By Esther Onyegbula &Faith Ake
LAGOS — The police in Lagos State have arrested a man with a stolen car, number plates HZ813ABC, which he said he bought at a hotel.

According to the 34-year-old suspect, who identified himself as Roy Omoriere, “I bought this car at Sango in a hotel where I went to pass the night. I slept there because it was late as I was on my way to Cotonou.”

Vanguard learned that the suspect was arrested last week in his house in Ogun State, after he bought a stolen vehicle and replaced the original plate number with a fake one, LND505CJ, to wade off suspicion.

Omoriere said: “I am a mechanic engineer, married with two kids. Please help me, it was a mistake.

“I do not know where the guys are from or where their office is. I never knew that this car will bring me this trouble and disgrace.”
