Police arrest APC chieftain’s suspected killer

The police in Bayelsa  State yesterday confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old man over his alleged involvement in the killing of one Andrew June, at Oweigbene in Ekeremor council area of the state. It was also gathered that 17 others were invited for questioning to assist the police in their investigation over the violent clash between members of the two rival political parties, the PDP and APC.

The deceased, a member of the All Progressive Congress, APC,  was reportedly butchered by machete wielding youths, on Wednesday, while returning from Ekeremor after attending the APC gubernatorial campaign while many others suffered various degrees of injuries.

Spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed that the suspected killer, Promise Meshak, was arrested yesterday by special operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

“We have the suspect in our custody and and investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Reacting to the development, the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation commended the police for the arrest of the suspected killer.
