It has been a busy week for the Restoration Campaign Organization of the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP in Bayelsa State, as the campaign outfit led by the party candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson intensified its community to community meet the people tour of Yenagoa, the state capital.

Yenagoa was chosen as the take off point of the community to community meet the people tour of the state in which the Restoration Campaign Organisation led by Dickson and his deputy, Rear Admiral John Gboribiogha Jonah (rtd) is expected to go round the 105 wards that cut across the eight local government areas because of its unique position as the host and landlord to Creek Haven, the seat of power.

Infrastructural development

Dickson and his train were received at the Yenagoa Town Hall by the paramount ruler of Yenagoa, HRH M.C Clarkson Kikile and members of his council.

Addressing the people, Dickson reiterated the determination of his administration to invest more in the infrastructural development of the capital if reelected.

An elated Dickson reiterated his affinity with people of Yenagoa, saying it was a special area to him and pledged greater commitment to the indigenes and their aspirations citing his administration’s huge investment in the state capital in the areas of infrastructures, which he said  are visible for all to see.

The projects include; the first ever flyover, the world class diagnostic centre, Micro-finance bank, multi court door hall, Late Prof Dora Akunyuli drug mart, the Igbogene/AIT bypass, Traditional rulers council secretariat and the driving school.

Others are, the cultural boulevard, the police officers mess, the road safety/Hospital junction ring road to mention but few.

Assuring his readiness to do more, if voted for second term, Dickson described the investments as historical and, therefore, solicited the support and cooperation of the people in the realization of his second term re-election bid.

“You have seen the little that we have done in spite of the tight financial situation. You have seen the investments by the Bayelsa State Government in Yenagoa. It is our thinking that by the grace of God and with the support of the people in the next term, we have to finish them. These are big projects that we have started. A number of them are at 60 to 80% completion stage, which is excellent but we need to complete them.”

“The hard decision of starting the projects has already been taken. It is our thinking that with your cooperation, in the next dispensation; we will now work hard to finish the projects.”

According to him, “Now is the time for all Ijaws to identify with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” Dickson said, adding that “Yenagoa communities have been active supporters of the party since 1999.”

He expressed confidence in the support of the people ahead of the  December 5  and enjoined the generality of the people to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its flag bearer, Timipre Sylva, ahead of the election because they do not mean well for the state.

He specifically recalled the era when Sylva was in charge of the state accusing his administration of lawlessness, violence, excessive borrowing without justification and gross leadership ineptitude.
