Akure—PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, charged the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, to instill professional integrity in the practice of engineering in the country.
He spoke at the opening ceremony of the NSE engineering national conference held in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
He also decried quacks within the profession.
“I urge the Nigerian Society of Engineers and other relevant regulatory bodies to continue to instil professional integrity in the practice of engineering in Nigeria.
“Engineers, by virtue of their professional calling, are saddled with the responsibility of building world class infrastructure for any society,’’ he said.
The National President of the NSE, Engr Ademola Olorunfemi said that the shortage of infrastructure poses a major challenge to the nation’s economic development and constitutes impediment to the achievement of its targets.
