Jalingo—Taraba State House of Assembly has confirmed twenty commissioners into the executive council of the state.
The list of commissioners was earlier sent to the state House of Assembly by Governor Darius Ishaku on October 8 for screening.
After three days of thorough screening by the lawmakers, all the nominees were confirmed to be commissioners.
Briefing journalist after the confirmation of the commissioners, the speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, Peter Abel Diah, said all the nominees fulfilled their constitutional requirements to be commissioners in the state.
The speaker also stated that members of the state House of Assembly were happy with the choice of the commissioners appointed by the governor, as all genders and ages were well represented in the cabinet.
He said the thorough screening was not aimed at intimidating or victimizing the nominees but to ascertain their ability to perform, if confirmed.
“The old, the young and women are well represented in the cabinet and is a welcome development.”
“The spirit of the federal character was also reflected in the list because all the local government areas in the state are represented”.
