LAGOS—Over 100 Midwives from the Midwives Service Scheme, MSS, yesterday, assembled at the Lagos State House of Assembly to protest over unpaid 2013 salary by the Lagos State Government.

The spokesperson, Mrs. Beatrice Ajayi who spoke to newsmen said, “We are over 100 and we have not been paid our 2013 salary and we worked very hard that year. The Lagos State Government is supposed to be paying us without our asking to be paid, but we protest every time before they pay us and that is not encouraging on the part of the state.

“We were here sometime in September this year to complain about 2013 and 2015 salaries and we were later paid for 2015 only, we were also here last year to complain over unpaid 2013 and 2014 salary but only 2014 salary was given to us,” she said.

The protesters, who submitted a letter to the House, however demanded that their 2013 salary be paid to them, or else they will take their case to the governor.

MMS is an organization under National Marine Health care which comprise of midwives posted to various local government in  Lagos State by the Federal Government  to take care of pregnant women and their babies for safe delivery and to avoid death.
