A FRONTLINE politician in Kogi State, Hon. Mathew Ochada has expressed confidence in the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP winning the next governorship election in Kogi State, dismissing the threat posed by Prince Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking with Vanguard in an exclusive chat in Anyigba, Ochada said the PDP is too rooted in the minds of the Kogi people. He said Capt. Idris Ichala Wada has received the backing of the people of the state.

We all know APC and their propaganda. They are already creating the impression that the race is a two-horse race when they know in their hearts that Capt. Idris Wada cannot be displaced by someone who is standing trial for graft.

“The people of this state will not forget in a hurry how Kogi was misgoverned between 1999 and 2003. The civil servants still remember how their salaries were stolen. Students knew how they were brutalized by their own government.

“Since 2003, change has come to the state and we are enjoying development and peace. All the schools he claimed to have built had no facilities nor accredited courses. It was just a window show to further impoverish the people of the state. But Kogites made no mistake as they rejected him in 2003 and four other times.

“Kogites are eagerly waiting for how our respected president would raise Audu’s hand as the candidate of the change party. Cameras are waiting as well as the international community because that moment will send a strong signal to the world.  The absence of judge handling Audu’s corruption case on October 14 is already denying the anti-corruption credentials of the present government. We urge the president to resist anyone who will stand between him and his lofty and popular stance against corruption.”
