A cross section of MTN subscribers who spoke to Vanguard at the MTN centre in Ogbor Hill, said the call for the establishment of more re-validation centers has become necessary in order to accommodate the teeming population of subscribers who daily converge to re-validate their mobile numbers.

A visit to the Airtel and Etisalat offices on Okigwe road and other parts of the city revealed that they were yet to direct from their network subscribers to re-validate their mobile numbers.

A subscriber, who simply gave his name as Chukwuma, said that after spending several hours for three days at the MTN Ogbor Hill re-validation centre, he was yet to be re-validated.

“I have been here for three days now, but yet to be attended to because of the huge numbers of subscribers waiting to revalidate their mobile numbers.    The stress is just too much on me, I would have forfeited my mobile number and buy a new one, but for the fact that most of my friends and relations have known me with it.”

When Vanguard visited MTN’s care centre along Aba-Owerri road at about 10am on Friday, the number on number on the list being compiled by a man said to be a staff of the mobile telecommunication network was beyond three hundred and seventy persons.

Vanguard  observed that while the MTN Staff were working strictly with the serial numbers on the list, special attentions are given to the aged, nursing mothers, pregnant women and the sick.
