Okpotu
Lobi Stars striker Tony Okpotu and Nigeria premier league leading scorer Esosa Igbinoba have been penciled down for next month’s CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso.
“Okpotu and Igbinoba are two players who are likely to be considered for the CHAN qualifiers against Burkina Faso next month,” an official informed.
“Otherwise, the core of the home-based Eagles who trained in Abuja before the AFCON qualifier in Tanzania will be the ones who will be called up for the match.”
Okpotu has returned from a stint at Libyan club Al Ittihad to rediscover the form that once earned him an invitation to the Eagles.
He has now netted 10 goals in the league to help Lobi stay clear of the drop zone thus far.
Nasarawa United midfielder Igbinoba is the leading scorer in the league with 14 goals.
Officials also said that plans are underway to bring forward the home-based Eagles training camp.
The original plan was for the team to reassemble in Port Harcourt on October 11, a week before the match against Burkina Faso.
