ABEOKUTA—The Commissioner of Police Ogun State Abdulmajid Ali has announced amnesty for cultists in the state, urging those involved in the act to renounce their membership and drop their arms .
Ali who further explained that he would grant amnesty to anyone that drops his arms with within two weeks from yesterday. He urged interested cultists to embrace the amnesty as no one or cultist will be spared after the expiration of the amnesty period.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement explained that, the Police boss has, however, charged officers and men of the command to be proactive and be at alert before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir festival all over the state.
According to Adejobi, the commissioner gave the charge yesterday while addressing officers of the command at the monthly mess gathering held at the Police Officers Mess Ibara, Abeokuta in preparation for the festival. “The commissioner of Police has directed that Divisional Police officers and Heads of Departments to be on patrol personally to avoid any ugly incident and make sure that praying centres all over the state are adequately protected.
