FORMER governors of Ogun and Cross River states, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Liyel Imoke, as well as the former managing director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr Funsho Kupolokun and former Minister of Works, Mr Adeseye Ogunseye were among the many personalities who thronged the Williams Memorial Methodist Church, Ago-Ijaiye, Ebutte-Metta, Lagos for the funeral ceremony of Engr, Foluseke Somolu who died recently at the age of 69 years and was buried at The Vault, Ikoyi, Lagos last Thursday, September.

The funeral service which commenced at 11.10 am witnessed a mammoth crowd of family members, friends, colleagues of the late Engineer with a thought provoking service conducted by The Very Reverend Ade Ademulua, The Presbyter and Minister in charge of the church. In his Homily, Reverend Ademulua called on all mortals to prepare for a day when they will close their eyes in death and join their heavenly father in heaven. He extolled the virtues of late Engr. Somolu, whom he described as a very serious christian, both in his work and deed.

Earlier,the three day funeral programme had witnessed an evening of tribute for late former President of Nigeria Society of Engineers, organized by the Nigerian Engineers at the University of Lagos staff school. It was a session where his colleagues and friends poured endless encomiums on him for his good deeds in elevating the business of engineering in the country. This session held on Tuesday, September 22.

There was also a service of songs on Wednesday, where eulogies were poured on the late engineer, whom many described as a hard working and focused man, and most importantly, a silent philanthropist. He was known to have impacted on so many lives.

Engr. Somolu, an electrical engineer of note spent 27 years at the now defunct NEPA and also served as SSA to Presidents Obasanjo and Yar’Adua. He was in the NEPA Technical Committee before he was elevated to the position of SSA. He was survived by his wife Mrs. Tokunbo Somolu, children and grandchildren
