Bauchi—No fewer than 20 persons have died of cholera in Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

This is contained in a statement issued in Bauchi by the Information Officer in the LGA,  Malam Danlami Baza.

The statement said 200 persons were admitted in the hospital.

It added that the Acting Chairman of the LGA,Alhaji Usman Mashema, had called on the public to come out for treatment as soon as they noticed any sign of cholera.

The statement appealed to the Federal and state governments as well as donor agencies to come to the aid of those affected.

It added that the affected communities included Bakul, Dunmagari  and  Gallari, among others.
