The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has concluded arrangement to partner with some notable ex-internationals for the organization of the 2015 edition of the Annual All Financial Institutions Football Competition slated to kick off across the country on Sunday.
Director of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Mu’azu represented by Martins Ogwuda told a press conference in Abuja yesterday that the decision to invite some former Nigerian players is to give the tournament the desired flavour and glamour.
He added that the presence of the former footballers will serve as a moral booster for the participating players to also aspire to be like them in future.
“The CBN and the NFF are extending invitations to a crop of ex*soccer internationals who featured for Nigeria on numerous occasions locally and internationally.
We believe that having them grace the finals of the competition would boost the morale of the players and motivate them to pursue their soccer aspirations with vigor and optimism.”
He also announced a prize money of N2 million naira for the winner, N 1.5 million naira for the second placed team while the third and fourth places will attract a cash prize of N1 million and N500,000 naira respectively.
The annual CBN tournament is organized by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and competed for by all financial institutions.
