IN order to meet the challenge of rapid growth, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, yesterday, at the ongoing 63rd annual convention of the church at the Redemption Camp, anointed 2,007 members of the church to serve as assistant pastors.
Day 2 of the convention began with a prayer walk round the camp in obedience to the General Overseer’s instruction. Pastor Enoch Adeboye had enjoined all participants the previous day to take a prayer partner each and pray for one hour for the success of the convention and for the peace of the nation, Nigeria.
As early as 8:00 a.m, the praise and worship led by the Praise Team had started the first session and immediately after that, was the commencement of the ordination of 2,007 new assistant pastors for the mission. The ordination service was anchored by the General Overseer with the assistance of the senior pastors of the church who anointed the men and women of God with the bottles of oil given to them by Pastor Adeboye.
After the anointing, the General Overseer prayed that ‘the Holy Spirit will overshadow them’ while the church’s regional evangelist, Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye admonished them on the responsibilities to the church and the Body of Christ at large.
Other events that took place, yesterday, included what the church described as a meeting of the children of God. As at press time, six group seminars were holding under different topics, including two for the youths, one for elders, one for children/teens, good women and a men’s forum.
The group seminars were being handled by seasoned professionals within the church as part of its manpower development programme.
