While addressing newsmen yesterday, spokesperson of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje disclosed plans by the monarchs from Anambra North to jointly confer both governors with special chieftaincy titles.

Igwe Onyekwuluje dismissed insinuations that the face-off was getting out of hand, insist ing that people were merely blowing the entire issue out of proportion.

He enjoined former Governor Peter Obi to see his successor as his friend and political son and overlook any misgivings or shortcomings that might bring disaffection between them.

Onyekwuluje, who is the Igwe of Umunya, praised governor Peter Obi for his unprecedent ed record of achievements during his tenure as governor.

He cited the area of infrastructure development in Anambra North as one which the people would ever be grateful for, listing such projects as the construction of Nteje/Umunya Road, Omor/Umumbo Road, reconstruction of Abuba Square /Nando Afor /Igbariam Road, among others.

The traditional ruler also cited the massive employment of youths and school leavers, which helped tremendously to reduce crime, especially kidnapping and youth restiveness.

While enumerating Peter Obi’s achievements, Igwe Onyekwuluje noted that top among them was ensuring that the governorship position went to Anambra North zone, which had never produced a governor.
