ONITSHA—The Nigerian Union in Northern Cameroun has vowed to give adequate protection and assistance to all Nigerians resident in the Republic of Cameroun, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and cultural differences.

The union however advised Nigerians residing in Cameroun to be good ambassadors of our country and to avoid any act capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigerian nation.

President of the union, Ichie Kenneth Chukwuma who disclosed this to newsmen yesterday at his Adazi-Nnukwu country home in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state during a civic reception organized for him by his Adazi-Nnukwu kinsmen, said Nigerians resident in Cameroun should respect the country’s laws to avoid running into trouble.

Chukwuma who is also Eze Ndigbo in Northern Cameroun, commended Nigerians resident in the country for the confidence reposed in him by electing him the president of Nigerian union in far away Cameroun, adding: “we will assist any Nigerian who runs into trouble in Cameroun.

“At least, we will ask questions and find out why such a person is in trouble and if we find out that his hands are clean, we shall rescue him at all cost, but if his hands are not, we will know that he is the architect of his own problem”, he stated.

He disclosed that the union had already made a request for a land for the erection of the Nigerian union hall in Northern Cameroun which had already been granted by the Camerounian authorities, adding that what is now left is for them to embark on the project with vigour, for the best interest of Nigerians in the country.
