UYO—The All Progressives Congres-APC, Akwa Ibom State Chapter has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Department of State Service, DSS and other agencies to undertake a thorough forensic financial examination of the state’s resources from May 29, 2007 to May 28, 2015.
APC also urged the anti-graft agencies and the DSS to compel Governor Emmanuel to be transparent and accountable by disclosing to Akwa Ibom people the debt profile of the state under the former governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio especially, the state’s indebtedness to some financial institutions.
The party in statement in Uyo, also urged the governor to disclose to the Akwa-Ibom people how much the government of Akpabio left in the treasury as at May 28, 2015.
The statement by Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Ita Awak, said that the call on the anti-graft agencies to conduct a forensic financial examination of the state’s resources, was necessitated by the suspicion that the state must have been mortgaged to some financial institutions to the detriment of its people.
“Throughout the last governorship election campaign, we in the Akwa Ibom State, APC, consistently and told our people that the very corrupt and fiscally irresponsible PDP administration of in the state had mortgaged our beloved state and the future of our children yet unborn to some financial institution.”
