ILORIN—An Ilorin Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, remanded 11 persons over the transport workers’ clash at Offa, Kwara State, last Sunday, which claimed the life of one person and caused injuries to many.
Police prosecutor, Sergeant Adewunmi Johnson, listed the suspects to include Ganiyu Fowomola, 32; Toafeeq Popoola, 43; Alhaji Rafiu Oyewole, 60; Mudashiru Oyeniran, 47; and Alhaji Fatai Owoseni, 59.
Others are AbdulRauf Ahmed, 48; Aliu Yemi Rasheed, 55; Oyeleke Abdul Lateef, 64; Debo Babatunde, 40; Alhaji Musbau Babalola, 48; and Noah Opatola, 53, all drivers at Offa.
The matter case was transferred from area commander, Omu-Aran, to Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department, CIID, Ilorin, for discreet investigation.
Police investigation allegedly revealed that the 11 person conspired and instigated the violence.
Sergeant Adewunmi Johnson also told the court that investigation on the matter had not been concluded and urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody.
In his ruling, Magistrate B.A Immam ordered the remand of the suspects at Federal Prison, Mandalla, and adjourned the matter till August 18 for mention.
