ABUJA—-THE House of Representatives, Tuesday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to publish the handover note of the former President Goodluck Jonathan for the people to have the first hand knowledge of performance of the past administration.
The House resolved that publishing the handover note would help to access the performances of the past administration as well as helping the public to know whether the country moved forward or backward in the life of the administration.
The mover of the motion, Rep. Uzoma Nkem-Abonta, PDP, Abia State, had in the motion stated that it was the right of Nigerians to know what was in the handover note, noting that for now, the handover note was only known by government officials.
He also said that it would help to ascertain the position of the treasury when the last administration handed over to the present one and also the level of problems inherited by the government in power.
Abonta further stated that the essence of the handover note was to institute transparency and accountability in governance, adding that it was in line with the philosophy of President Buhari.
