ABAKALIKI—GOVERNOR Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State Wednesday swore into office eighteen newly appointed commissioners, special advisers and chairmen of various boards in the state.
The appointees were screened last week by the state House of Assembly.
The commissioner sworn-in include Sen. Emmanuel Onwe who is to take charge of Information and State Orientation; Mrs. Elizabeth Ogbaga, Commerce and Industry; Mrs. Rebecca Ogbuewu, Women Affairs; and Augustine Nwankwegu, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General.
Others are Uchenna Orji, Agricultre; Chief Emma Uguru, Power; Chief Sunday Inyima, Lands, Housing and Urban Development; Deacon Obinna Nwachukwu, Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution; Chief Donatus Njoku, Solid Minerals; Dr. Umezurike Akuma Daniel, Health; Akpunike Emeka Charles, Sports and Youth Development; and Engr. Umahi, on the occasion which took place at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, warned the appointees that it was not business as usual but a call to service to help the present administration in the state to achieve its set objectives.
“There is no money to give you, you have to be creative, find ways to create wealth and revenue for the state. Any appointee that is not ready to work without money should resign immediately,’’ he said.
