ASABA—Delta State Commissioner for Energy, Mr Newworld Safugha, has said that enhanced electricity supply in the state was key to driving the programmes and policies of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration.
Safugha, who briefed newsmen in his office in Asaba on assumption of duty, promised that the governor’s vision on power would be achieved, adding that the state government was determined to build an enduring legacy in the state.
Expressing the determination of his ministry to improve on power supply across the state, he said that his first action plan was to repair the street lights in designated cities across the state, namely, Asaba, Warri, Effurun and Ughelli which, according to him, was performing below expectations in recent times.
The commissioner said that street lights were necessary not only to for security purposes in the cities, but also to enhance the beauty of the environment.
