UMUAHIA—ABIA State Police Command has, in collaboration with its counterpart in Imo State, rescued one Ifeanyi John of Obigbo, River State, from his kidnappers.
Vanguard gathered that his rescue by police followed a tip-off by members of the public to Ubakala Police Station in Umuahia.
The victim was said to have had a vehicular break down at Usukpe village, along Port Harcourt-Enugu highway and was fixing it when two unidentified men suddenly abducted him.
Spokesman of the command, DSP Onyeke Ezekiel, who confirmed the development, said the abductors tied the hands and feet of their victim, locked him up in the boot of their Toyota Corolla and drove off towards Imo State.
He said a police rescue team from Ubakala Police Station was dispatched to rescue the victim, adding that the team intercepted the kidnappers at Obowo in Imo State.
One of the suspects, who gave his name as Ifeanyi Nwunni, 30, a native of Umafai, Imo State, was arrested, while the other suspect escaped.
